Health cash plans work alongside the National Health System very well. While here in the UK we have access to Doctors and hospitals free of charge, there are still some medical treatments we have to pay for, as well as often long waiting lists for free treatments. For instance – some people have to pay for eye tests and glasses; dentist treatment often adds up to a fair amount of money out of your pocket; private physiotherapy can work out costly. However with a cash plan in place you may be able to claim these costs back. Here are some hints and tips when considering insurance.

  • the first thing to be aware of is that there are typically different levels of insurance, meaning that there should be a cash plan to suit just about every budget. However, bear in mind that the lower the monthly premium for insurance, the less you may be able to claim back on the policy;
  • check out the benefits of health cash plans before you buy. Some insurance providers may offer a slightly better deal than another. You may find that one policy may cover a wider range of treatments than another, so it may pay to shop around;
  • you may wish to check if the policy covers a stay in hospital. Some policies typically pay out a sum of money for each night you have to stay in the hospital. Other insurance providers may cover day surgery and even the costs of attending surgery;
  • you may wish to check if alternative treatments are included in any cash health plans that you consider. Some policies may allow you to claim for treatments such as acupuncture, while with other providers this may be excluded;
  • some providers may offer family insurance for up to so many individuals. This may work out cheaper than separate insurance.

As you see from the above there is a great deal to consider when thinking about getting the most suitable form of health cash plans for you and your family.
