There are very few people who get away without having to endure a filling or two at the dentist. Worse still is having an extraction. Not only do these procedures come with some discomfort, they also come with cost. However if you have taken out medical cash plans for your family you may be able to save a great deal of money on the cost of every day healthcare.
What is a cash plan for medical costs?
Health cash plans may offer all or some of the following benefits, up to set limits:
- having an eye test at the optician;
- pay towards glasses or contact lenses;
- pay towards dental costs such as check ups and other fees for dental procedures;
- medical cash plans may cover the cost of any visits to the hospital if you attend day surgery;
- private physiotherapy and osteopathy costs;
- so much money per day for up to so many days if you have to stay in hospital;
- money towards any alternative treatments or therapies such as acupuncture. However this may only apply if your Doctor recommends the treatments.
The small print of a policy
As with any form of insurance, medical cash plans have small print. While this part of the insurance policy may be boring, it may be better to take time out to read it. This is the part of your insurance that tells you any limitations. It also states any limits as to how much the insurance provider pays out. Bear in mind when looking for insurance that there are different levels of cover. The higher the level the more you may expect to get back from the policy if a claim is made.
